I’m a descendent of Gunn and Asleifsson via Thomas Wilson (Wilson Clan, Gunn of Kilernan) of St. Andrews (b.1790, Cameron Parish; d.1821, Lyon County, KY). Interested in clarifying Thomas’ line back to 1397 Fifeshire. Also very interested in more about Sweyn Asleifsson’s ( ancestry, especially any connections near Surnadal, Norway.

Thank you,
Pamela Hester Taylor

Hi, Im currently living in Orlando, Fl and curious about my ancestry. I don’t really know my blood relatives very well. I just remember meeting them when I was a child and they were discussing how our heritage was Scottish.

My name is Peter Robsahm from Sweden. The first Robsahm, Christian Robson, came to Sweden from Scotland in the early 1600s. In Sweden the family name was changed from Robson to Robsahm, though some have kept Robson and two links of the family became nobilities, named af Robson or af Robsahm (‘af’ is old Swedish for ‘from’, like von). It was just a few days ago I found out about the Gunn clan, and I was very happy about it. Ever since I was a young boy, I´ve always known that we came “from Scotland”, but not much more than that. Knowing I´m a “Gunner” feels somewhat overwhealming. The Robsahm/Robson family in Sweden is quite large.

My Grandfather was Lionel Gunn who later changed his name to Harris after his father died. I am currently a Soldier in the US Army living in South Carolina. I will be applying for membership and look forward to getting involved in the Clan, and researching ancestors.

I am Bodine Gunn, daughter of Ian Gunn, son of Alfred Gunn, son of Lawson Gunn, and the list goes on. It has been so interesting to find this site, but i still feel somewhat lost. We have a family tree which has been brought down the line and what i am trying to find is if there is someone out there still growing the tree. My grandfather Alfred Gunn was the last of our family put on the tree and we would love to find someone with the same tree or maybe extended versions.

Please reply to this guestbook entry if you know of anyone.

    Hi fellow Gunn’ers/Kinfolk?. :)

Just realised from browsing online I’m from the Gunn Clan, via Robinson, Hamilton, Johnston/e direct ancestry. Our people are part Norse/Scotts, some settled in Northern Ireland – Castlederg, Co. Tyrone. They were and are still dairy farmers. The main farmhouse “Hillview” is at Ardbarron, now a foundry/black smith’s I believe. Some went to the Americas way back & some of us are in Australia, like me.

To John German – We had and still have a few people in the family carrying those names you mention – John, James, Alester/Alastdair, along with plenty of Roberts & Williams. I’ll try to find a link for burials at the Castlederg Cemetery as there is a list of Robinsons in there, but some burials were in other areas of Antrim. We had a big family plot, now full. It may help your search. Many Scotts popped over to Ireland as not far by boat from Scotland. I also hail from the Worcester (Evesham) area in the UK.

Here is one link (you may have already checked it):

    And another:

Anyway, I’m proud to be a “Gunn kin” & will wear my (Gunn Ancient) sash with pride. I have newly settled in the Irish Killarney region of Southern Queensland. Bless you all.

Hello from Canada. I am looking for information on John Manson who married Jane (Jean) Cormach/k around 1880. Their son was James Cormach Manson, b. March 1885. There were 6 children in total – Jean, Barbara, Elizabeth, James, Clemintina and John. Jane (Jean’s) parents were James Cormach b. 1830 and Jane Bremner b. 1825, The family was all around Huntley and Aberdeen. I have no information on John Manson other than from the 1881 census. Our relation is James Cormach Manson who came over to Manitoba from Scotland in the early 19th century. Any information on John Manson or the Cormachs would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi, my Scottish grandfather was Harry Joseph Gunn who married Nancy Benetti and had 5 children – Harry, Eric, Rita, Lorraine & Patricia Elaine(my mother). They lived in Port Elizabeth South Africa. Other that this, I have no idea where my grandpa originally comes from and would love to know if there is anyone out there that might have some information about my Scottish roots.
